'Chanda' the district Chandrapur CITY OF BLACK GOLD as we know
now formed as an independent district in 1854. According to tradition and legend
the Gond Kings ruled the area till 1751 after which Maratha King named
Raghuji Bhosale was the Last to Rule the dynasty uptill Chandrapur got under
British Empire. |
The
Jatpura Gate is one the Historic evidence of the esteem heritage of the Gond
Dynasty. Also ,there are Anchaleswar Gate,Binba Gate and Patanpura Gate these
Gates are the security gates of the Gond Royal Forts, the minars of the gate
where earlier treated as the guarding minars from where gond soliders used to
keep watch on their enemies.

Located around 35 Km from the Chandrapur City is the
second Tiger Reserve in Maharashtra known as " Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve"
created in 1995 on the name of a mighty warrior "Taru" whom the villagers
worshiped as "Tadoba". Tadoba National Park and Wild Life Sanctuary are also a
part of the project which contains one of the best and dense forests of Asia
endowed with many Flora and Fauna spieces especially the "Tiger". Tadoba
is not only one of the best toursim places in Chandrapur but also caries out

popularly know as "Baba Amte" a social and moral leader
who devoted his life for care and rehabilitation of leprosy patients under
his community development project known as "Anandwan" in Warora a tehsil place
in Chandrapur District.He has been worldwide recognized for his selfless work
for the leprosy victims and has been rewarded from many honours like "Ramon
Magsaysay Award". Anandwan beyond a rehabilitation center is a home of
various wild animals.Also, is emerging as a new tourist place. |
Chandrapur Super Thermal Power Station is
the Asia's No 1 Thermal Power Station having an ultimate capacity of 2340
MW. Located at a distance of merely 6 km from Chandrapur the Thermal Gaint is a
modern venture of the Maharashtra Electricity Board which has put them to lead
in power generation and distribution.Foundation of the Power Station was laid
earlier in 1977 and was dedicated to the nation in 1984. |
